Camila Cuenca (Camil Camil) is a multifaceted artist ranging from singer-songwriter to ambient music.
Born in Argentina. she is currently based in Mexico City. Camil Camil blends influences
from Argentine and European music with electronic and experimental or exploratory elements (as she
likes to call them), creating a soundscape that invites contemplation and movement.
Her artistic journey began at the age of 12 with studies in lyrical singing. Additionally, she studied dramatic
arts, physical theater, and contemporary dance, and has been writing poetry since the age of 16. Her
education also includes a degree in psychology, which has helped her develop a deep connection with
lyrical expression. In 2020, she created her own physical movement called expansive movement and has
been producing her first artist.
Strange textures and melancholic harmonies
envelop powerful vocal melodies that stand out for their expressiveness and clarity. The richness of her
project lies in the diversity of elements: copleras boxes, Indian bells, analog synthesizers, generative
music created with computational algorithms, and electronic percussion.
Camil Camil has participated in significant events such as MUTEK 2023, Festival Marvin, SOFAR the Digital
Culture Center in Mexico City, and important venues in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and various cities in
Mexico. In 2023, she released her acoustic EP "Bordes Libres",
featuring string and saxophone
arrangements, showcasing her versatility and artistic depth. She is currently working on her solo full-length
album and a chaos ambient album in collaboration with Venezuelan artist p3p510, once again
showcasing her ability to blend all her interests.
Additionally, Camil Camil explores introspection and spiritual connection through her music. In her new
live version “Aisling Sìth” (an ode to her sleep disorder), she incorporates ceramic sound sculptures,
crystals with sensors, and the captivating melody of the lyre, creating layers of sound that evoke the
serenity of nature and the majesty of the cosmos, as well as spaces of disruptiveness. Her sonic textures
weave into a musical fabric that invites reflection and meditation.
Camil Camil fuses sound experimentation with emotional expression. Her subtle rhythms invite conscious
movement and deep listening, transcending the boundaries of the ambient genre.
In addition to her music, Camil Camil is working on a book of poetry and drawings, further expanding her
artistic expression
